Quick responses! Great customer service! I will purchase from the Talley Counter Store again.
As a long-distance hiker, I wanted to try this as digital 'pace beads' for estimating distance walked independently of GPS-based apps. It works perfectly well in this role, with the pre-set 'pitch count' set to the average number of paces I take for a tenth of a mile.
Unfortunately, accumulating tenths into miles and keeping count of the miles themselves can't be accomplished by the counter itself (of course), necessitating reliance on analog pace beads once again. In the end, given the added complication of having to manipulate buttons whilst wearing gloves and carrying trekking poles, I had to conclude the approach was not practicable.
I also have to agree with @Cristian regarding the volume of the beeps. I wanted a device to alert me to the number of pitches/paces having reached the pre-set value, as counting mentally can become mesmerizing during the course of a long or tiring day, but it would be handy to be able to modulate its volume!
Outside my eccentric requirements (especially as it's not waterproof) it does exactly as it is advertised to do.
...one knock against it is the loud beeping after every pitch that is registered. I get the point of it, but it can be heard from a far distance.
